Nailed It: Mint & Gold

0

I passed up buying 'Only Gold For Me' for a long time, but when I was in Sephora a few weeks back, they had all the Sephora by OPI polishes 50% off! I guess the line is being discontinued, so I picked this polish up while I still could. SO glad I did. I don't have any gold glitters like this, and it was beyond perfect for this sparkly mani.

Jealous Much? takes a good 4 coats, but it's milky-jelly quality is gorgeous. Once it was dry, I just dabbed Only Gold For Me around the cuticle area, going over it a few times until I was happy with the coverage.

This is one that I will have to try again sometime :) Too pretty not too!

Favourite Summer Polish

0

Finally, the video I had planned on posting two weeks ago is finally up! Say hello to my super awkward self haha Editing this took way too long and then it wouldn't export! So I had to fiddle with settings and change some things but it's up. There are still a bunch of things I would like to change (quality isn't the best, add backround music) but it's done and I promised myself I would post it no matter how awkward it was.

So here I am, talking about my favourite summer nail polishes (of course haha). Be nice please?

Click here if you have trouble with the video player.

Notes:
+ how many times I say 'bright' & 'vibrant' - I clearly need a thesaurus

+ Four Leaf Clover does not appear accurate on camera - it's much greener, sort of like this

+ Warwick Way is off too - can't find an accurate picture online. It's crazy bright.

+ The Sally Hansen green I mentioned is #2 Green With Envy.

+ Gradient manicure I mentioned can be found here

+ Scotch Naturals - I bought mine at Blush Shop, but you can find it online

+ I prefer to buy nail polish in person, but Nail Polish Canada is one of my favourite online stores

I think that's everything, but if you have any questions or I forgot to list something I mentioned, let me know!

What are your favourite summer polishes?

Nailed It: Two Tone

0

I filmed a video last week on my favourite summer nail polishes to share with you guys today, but it just does not want to export. Total bummer, but as I work away on it (hopefully get it up for you next week!) I decided to share a fun mani I did a few weeks ago.

Nothing extravagant with this one, no fancy tools needed, just two shades of polish in a similar or friendly colour family. I used Finger Paints Louvre This Pink & Julep Teri. (I've done this with a turquoise & green too!)

I alternated each polish over all 10 nails - the above photo is my right hand and the two below are my left hand. I honestly thought it might turn out a little crazy looking, but Julep Teri is slightly darker than it appears in the photos so it actually worked really well.

Ever had those days when you just can't decide? Would you ever wear a two tone mani?

Nailed It: Half Moons

Another week, another mani :)

This one received so many compliments when I wore it to my church's sisters weekend back in May. (I'm just a wee bit behind on posting haha) It looks fairly complicated but if you have the time, it is dead easy. Promise!

The only trick with this manicure is the time it takes. You need to paint your base colour, let it dry completely (I usually do overnight just to be safe) and then do the second colour (I do it the next morning).

All you need is your base & top coat, your two polish colours (I used Julep Zelda & Nails Inc Porchester Square), and binder reinforcement thingies.

Steps:
1) Paint your base colour like you would any other mani (base coat, 2 coats of colour, quick drying topcoat)

2) Let it dry completely (very important!)

3) Lay 1/4 - 1/2 of binder reinforcement or sticker over base of nail and make sure it is secure, especially on the sides where it meets your skin.

4) Paint 2 coats of your second colour and remove sticker immediately after second coat. Apply topcoat.

That's it!

Above is a photo of Julep Zelda on it's own (before I painted the half-moons). Such a gorgeous colour! And it wears incredibly well - maybe it's the foil formula? But that stuff sticks like glue haha I wore it at camp last week and aside from my pointer finger nail (which always gets beat up a bit) and a few random chips, it lasted pretty much the whole week.

And if you want to sign up for Julep, you can do so by clicking here. (I will receive points for referring you just fyi) If you search around, you can usually find a promo code to get your first monthly box free!

What are your thoughts on the half-moon mani? It's been around for a while, but I still think it's gorgeous :)
