MCQs in Microbiology Book Description

Medical and Paramedical graduates aspiring for higher education planning to take PG ought to appear in Entrance Examinations. These entrance examinations are usually patterned in objective type. Microbiology forms an integral part of curriculum of medical and paramedical courses. It is an important subject and deals with various biological, microbiological and pathological manifestations of microbial flora and fauna on human physiological systems. Quite a large number of MCQs appear in PG medical and paramedical competitive examinations in this subject. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) test a candidate's ability to apply his knowledge gained during regular class work in the subject.

Framing a question paper based on MCQs is time consuming and evaluation of answers is not subjective and biased but based on merit. Several universities now-a-days are adopting MCQ pattern for their examination system. This system of evaluation can be computerized and human bias can be eliminated to a greater extent. The Medical Council of India in their latest recommendations on the medical education and examination have stipulated that part of the question paper should be objective type based. The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Karnataka, the Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University, Tamil Nadu and the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Rajasthan also use the MCQ pattern in all their undergraduate and PG programmes of medical and paramedical courses.

The quick solution books presently available for this subject in the market doesn't cover the subject in an integrated way. Acquiring knowledge becomes simple if all the required information is made available at one place.

The MCQs in the book have been prepared with great care and after an exhaustive and extensive study of pattern of multiple choice questions in the subject. The questions are precise and clear enabling the reader to make correct choice based on his understanding of Microbiology.

This book is his contribution towards a better comprehension and understanding of Biochemistry.

Biology: An Illustrated Guide to Science by: Gareth Price
Chelsea House Publications | Pages: 208 | 2006-08-30 | ISBN 0816061629 | PDF | 15 MB

Biology: An Illustrated Guide to Science" is one of eight volumes in "Facts On File's" new "Science Visual Resources" set. Containing six sections, a comprehensive glossary, a Web site guide, and an index, "Biology" is an ideal learning tool for students and teachers of science. Full-colour diagrams, graphs, charts, and maps on every page illustrate the essential elements of the subject, while parallel text provides key definitions and step-by-step explanations. "Unity" - looks at the basic chemistry of all biological systems, such as carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. It also describes the essential instruments and techniques of biology. This section furthermore describes the most vital life processes from photosynthesis to respiration. "Continuity" - considers the ways in which biological systems reproduce. The basics of all forms of biological reproduction are covered, from those of unicellular organisms to flowering plants and mammals. It also details the genetic mechanisms of inheritance from one generation to the next. "Diversity" - provides an overview of the vast range of living organisms that inhabit Earth. The major categories that biologists use to classify these organisms are described, with examples provided. "Maintenance" - examines the ways in which various kinds of living organisms carry out everyday life processes, such as breathing, eating, movement, and excretion. "Human biology" - takes a closer look at the essential biological structures and functions of the human body. It describes how the raw materials required are taken in, digested, and transported to where they are needed; how waste products are removed; and how the body is able to sense and interact with its environment. "Ecology" - provides a brief look at how living organisms influence and are influenced by the planet they live on. The broadest of all biological processes are traced: the complex webs of survival that link the simplest bacteria to the most sophisticated carnivores. Finally, the elemental relations by which chemical and geological processes form the conditions for life are outlined.

Physiology and Molecular Biology of Stress Tolerance in Plants by K.V. Madhava Rao
Publisher: Springer; 1 edition (February 10, 2006) | ISBN: 1402042248 | Pages: 345 | PDF | 2.3 MB

Today, biologists all over the world speak the same scientific language of molecular biology and use the same molecular tools. More interest and attention is given to molecular biology of abiotic stress tolerance and modes of installing better tolerant mechanisms in crop plants. These studies make plants capable of sustaining their yields even under stress conditions. Further, the information gained may form the basis for its application in biotechnology and bioinformatics. This book does not only review the current status in the physiology and molecular biology of stress tolerance and its improvement in plants but will also trigger further research on this exciting topic.
