Until a few years ago, I was going through the same ordeal.

I am a woman of color and like most people of color, I have had to deal with my share of skin problems. As far as I can remember, some areas of my skin were always darker than other parts.

Years spent in the harsh sun had done further damage to my complexion and I was covered with dull, uneven skin.  I also had dark underarms from years of using depilatory creams and harsh deodorants.

To add to my problems, I also suffered Tinea versicolor on my stomach, chest and back. Tinea versicolor can cause hyperpigmentation of skin that take years to fade. However, years after treating Tinea versicolor, I still haddark patches all over my back and stomach. Emotionally, I was a wreck. I used to try to cover up my body as much as possible to hide the Tinea Versicolor patches.

People told me that I had a pretty face but my self-esteem was very low because of all the skin problems I had.
